Recent experience of Avico and its principals include twenty-four completed projects ranging in size from 5,400 to 50,00 square feet. These projects include mixed use, industrial, office, retail, and residential facilities and have been built/ renovated for a variety of developers, end users, homeowners and investors As noted earlier, Mr. Arshadnia is widely known for his concrete expertise. The following paragraphs reflect this expertise in concrete and highlight Avico’s experience in a categorical format.

 

• STRUCTURAL AND FLAT CONCRETE

Many of Avico’s projects were constructed on surface level spread footings. One required the use of thirty-three foot deep caissons to compensate for poor soil conditions. Several others used below ground foundations required for subterranean parking of one and two levels.
In these projects Avico has used poured in place concrete, concrete tilt-wall, concrete block wall construction. These ranged from twenty-four feet deep to forty-two feet high.
In addition, Avico has completed several post tension second level parking areas. These surfaces, up to 24,000 square feet have been designed and built to insure leak-free first-floor business areas.
When applied to on-grade concrete parking surfaces, Avico’s expertise permit it to build at prices, which, considering subsequent maintenance cost differentials, are more cost effective than most contractors’ asphalt parking areas.
In-depth knowledge of concrete and the experience gained in constructing new concrete tilt-wall buildings has facilitated
Avico’s entry to the structural retrofit business. Numerous smaller jobs have been completed and many large proposals are outstanding.

 

• excavation

 

Many of Avico’s projects required excavation to accommodate subterranean parking. One of those which demanded excavation, at the lot lines, required a 24-foot-deep cut and utilized both tieback and rakers to stabilize the shoring.

 

 

• FRAMING

 

Differing client requirements have helped Avico refine its structural framing expertise in new wood and steel framed structures of one, two and three stories. Framing modification work has involved projects to five stories and reinforcement of
masonry buildings.

• ROOFING

​

The diversity of Avico’s projects has provided many opportunities to deal with a variety of roofing systems. Avico has successfully installed shake, tile, built-up and single-ply roofing systems.

• ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL

 

Construction on in-fill lots, maximizing lot coverage and special client requirements have all contributed to Avico’s expertise in securing electrical service to client projects. Avico has provided simple hookup to existing overhead lines, and built
transformer pads, transformer vaults and customer stations (belonging to the utility company). The services range from 220 volt to 880 volt. Power from these sources has been run underground and in walls and ceilings. Along with electrical power, Avico typically runs telephone, computer/fax -and security system wiring. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning system installation has focused on package and split system application. Elevator installation, both passenger and freight, has been a common part of many Avico contracts.

• PLUMBING

Retail and residential projects involving multiple fixtures and long runs have helped Avico refine its plumbing expertise.

• EXTERIOR FINISH

The strengths of Avico’s expertise are in well-applied masonry and stucco, as well as properly installed windows, doors and storefronts. Avico is also experienced in marble tile and security doors/gates.

• INTERIOR FINISH

Avico’s interior work has refined their ability to install drywall and plaster finished walls and both hard-finished or dropped acoustical ceilings. A large number of these interiors also involve soundproofing and fireproofing of ceilings, floors and walls.

• SPRINKLER/ADA WORK

Avico has gained expertise by careful study of the rules and regulations and attendance at many private and city training programs covering these topics. All of Avico’s projects, including new construction and renovation, have passed inspection easily, hardly requiring return visits.
